THROUGH THE YEARS!!!

The first race car that the Humphrey family owned was an early model coupe that oldest brother Douglas Humphrey bought in 1975 from Gene Carney in Stonewall, LA. The car was number 15 and that's how the "15's" got started in the family. Douglas Humphrey sold the car just a few weeks later and it was not until 1978 that another Humphrey "15" hit the track - this time Middle brother Gene built a pure street car to race at Boothill Speedway in Shreveport. Gene raced on through 1979 winning his first of three eventual Track Championships then hanging up his helmet between 1980 and 1986
.
Like brothers Gene and Douglas, Ronnie was having some success in racing motorcycles and after winning the "Red Neck" National Enduro in 1983, he decided he would like to try his hand at car racing. With the help of long time friend and welder Greg Heron, Ronnie bought a wore out street stock and commenced to rebuild it. While still in college, Ronnie barely had enough funding to build the car and would have never been in a position to hit the track had brother Gene Humphrey not stepped in and supplied the power plant, transmission and most importantly; a hauler to get the car to the track
.
Ronnie hit the track for the first time at Boothill Speedway in 1983 in a beat up 1969ish Chevrolet Nova, however the car more than made up for its looks on the track as it brought home a win for Ronnie in the "B" Feature that first night. Since that first night Ronnie has driven about every kind of car there is and this page is dedicated to just how many cars he has either driven, owned or both
Incidentally, Gene continued with the original "15" from the 1970's, however Ronnie added the "x"  in 1983 to make his number the same as the family "15" but with a unique identifier. Through the years, the "15x" has made laps and / or won on tracks in Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Arkansas and been on the majority of his car unless owned by someone else or having to use assigned numbers by a sanctioning body.
